About DESK - Teaching material

This is just a small selection of course books that are used by DESK teachers. Unlike some other language schools we do not publish or sell our own books and we can therefore advise our students independently.

Themen neu (Hueber-Verlag, München) A very popular book, which is particularly used in beginners' courses. High emphasis on communicative skills. It comes with a workbook, audiocassettes, audio-CD and a glossary in all major languages.

Stufen International 2 (Klett-Verlag, Stuttgart) A course book that is often used in classes at intermediate level. It also has a highly communicative approach. Volume 3 is sometimes used in classes that lead to "Zertifikat Deutsch".

Geschäftskommunikation Band 2 Verhandlungssprache (Hueber-Verlag) This book aims at the student who needs German for business, particularly negotiations.

Deutsche Grammatik (Verlag für DEUTSCH) Mainly a reference and practise book for students at intermediate and upper levels. Can be used as a course book if students wish to improve their grammar skills.

English Grammar in Use (Cambridge) This grammar book aims at the student with an intermediate level. It can be used both as a reference book and a practise book in class.

New International Business English (Klett/Cambridge) A popular course book for learners who need to improve their business English skills. Both speaking and writing in business situations can be practised with this book.

New Headway English Course Intermediate A general English course book available in 5 volumes from beginners' (Headway Elementary) to advanced level (Headway Advanced), which leads to the Cambridge Proficiency Exams.
